International Historic Preservation
In the summer of 2016, Dr. Stacey Graham led a class in International Historic Preservation in Scotland.
We spent almost three weeks living, working, and exploring, mostly in Glasgow and Edinburgh. By visiting museums and historic sites we learned how to analyze and evaluate historic sites, material culture, and cultural landscapes. We learned about how heritage organizations – including Historic Scotland, the National Trust, and the UNESCO World Heritage Center – address the preservation and public interpretation of their properties. We also had the opportunity to work with Rubicon Heritage, an archaeological and heritage consultancy firm in the UK, at an archaeological excavation at Redhall Castle in Edinburgh.
